The iPod, iPod Nano & iPod Shuffle

So everybody has heard about the iPod. When it comes to music players, the iPod is the first thing that comes to your mind. Right - now there are three versions of the iPod as i have mentioned in the title -

1) iPod (Also called the Video iPOD)
2) iPod Nano
3) iPod Shuffle

Now here's a note - i dont know whats the difference between them apart from the size. So i thought i'd find out n post it here so all you other people like me might understand. So here goes.

First let me tell you what the official Apple site had to say

iPOD
With enough room for your favorite music and video, this iPod has both sound and vision. Of course, it also boasts stamina (up to 20 hours1 of battery life), generous capacity (30GB or 80GB2 of storage), a great personality (intuitive, customizable menus), and a touch of genius (the Click Wheel). In other words, iPod makes an ideal companion.

iPOD NANO
Only 0.26 of an inch thin and 1.41 ounces light, iPod nano packs a lot into its diminutive design. Up to 24 hours of battery life.1 2GB, 4GB, or 8GB of storage.2 A brighter color display. A dock connector that fits an entire ecosystem of iPod accessories. With features like these, iPod nano changes the way you experience your music and more.

iPOD SHUFFLE
In five brilliant colors, the 1GB iPod shuffle lets you wear up to 240 songs1 on your sleeve. Or your lapel. Or your belt. Clip on iPod shuffle and wear it as a badge of musical devotion.

All rite now here's the comparision between the 3:

Storage:
iPOD: 30GB & 80GB
NANO: 2GB, 4GB & 8GB
SHUFFLE: 1GB

Display:
iPOD: 2.5inch
NANO: 1.5inch
SHUFFLE: no display

Photo & Video Support:
iPOD: Both
NANO: only photo
SHUFFLE: none

Charge Time:
iPOD: About 4 hrs
NANO: About 3 hrs
SHUFFLE: About 4hrs

Battery Life:
iPOD: Upto 14 (20 for 80GB) hrs of music playback; upto 4 (6 for 80GB) hrs of slideshows with music; upto 3.5 (6.5 for 80GB) hrs of video playback
NANO: Upto 24 hrs of music playback; upto 5 hrs of slideshows with music
SHUFFLE: Upto 12 hrs

Right now my conclusions -

If you want everything (as in music, pics n videos on the go) go for the IPOD. If you are looking for style (with only music) go for the SHUFFLE & otherwise the iPOD NANO. (Pretty Obvious huh !!!)

Here are the retail prices for the iPODS:

iPOD (Video)
30GB - $249 (Rs. 16700)
80GB - $349 (Rs. 23600)

iPOD NANO
2GB - $149 (Rs. 9800)
4GB - $199 (Rs. 13200)
8GB - $249 (Rs. 16400)

iPOD SHUFFLE - $79 (Rs. 5600)

If you live in India, i might as well recommend you ask someone to buy the iPOD for you from abroad cause the list price is much more than the converted price (USD)

I got a replacement battery at www.ipodbatterydepot.com and replaced the ipod battery myself. Their instructions and videos were really easy to use. I checked and thier prices were really inexpensive and their quality seems to be great.
